Your life may not look like your vision yet—but growth is happening beneath the surface. Discover the bamboo lesson, faith-based mindset shifts, and how to keep going.
I believe we are Spiritual Beings have a human experience. As we have take steps, every day, there is progress that is being made. Many times we will compare ourselves to others and their successes. We will focus on their results now. Look at him! He has a great car! She has an amazing husband. They get to leave on trips whenever they want. . . but what we don’t see is the journey it took them to get where they are now. We don’t see the long hours the man who owns his own shop working 7 days a week, going out networking every week, being present and serving his customers. We don’t see that he has been pouring into his business and customers for years and it has grown by leaps and bounds. He is now reaping the harvest of what he has planted for many years.
This reminds me of the bamboo. Bamboo plants when they are planted will sprout very little, maybe an inch, the first year. The plant will be nurtured with water, nutrients, and sunlight, and it grows another inch the next year. This repeats for about 2 more years and each year it grows about an inch. Until the 5th year, it can shoot up about 12 feet. Why did this happen? Years 1-4, the root system is growing and getting stronger every day. We don’t see it as it is under the soil. The foundation is being laid. It’s a beautiful network of of roots – strength, nutrients, and stability.
This is much like our life when we are building something new and growing. We can be taking steps everyday and it can feel like there is no progress because we don’t see things in front of us in the way we would like. It is easy to give up not realizing every step, every upset, IS growth. Every experience has a lesson to learn and grow. Each moment that appears to be a failure gives us feedback to do things better the next time. All this to form a strong foundaiton.
I remember one day as I was growing my business, I was tired and frustrated that things were not where I would love them to be. As I sat quietly, connecting to my vision, which I truly believe is connected to God, I heard “You are building the foundation for the abundance of what’s to come.” I said ok. Took a deep breath and kept going. . . and God/Spirit has never failed me.
So keep staying in the feeling tone of your vision where it has all worked out. Listen for your next steps and KNOW that you are taking your steps to become that version of you in your vision. DO NOT GIVE UP. You are going to be taking steps in life no matter what. It could be in the direction of the life that is not fulfilling, yet comfortable (but is it really?) or you can be taking the steps in the life that you know will light you up. So keep taking your steps. Do NOT GIVE UP. Because you have that desire in your heart for the life you would love living, that life exists.
